Tools are essential for [[farming]], [[cooking]], [[smithing]] and [[building]]. Most tools have a limited number of times they can be used before becoming broken. Others, such as [[Basket]], [[Backpack]] and [[Hand Cart]], degrade after a certain amount of time. Some tools such as [[Stone]], [[Bellows]] and [[Knife]] can be used infinitely without degrading or becoming broken.

Tools nearing breaking point will change visually so keep an eye on the condition of the tool and try to put it back where you found it, so that others can find it. [[Broken Steel Tool]]s will disappear after an hour, or can be combined to get [[Clump of Scrap Steel]] and forged into a new [[Steel Ingot]].
