Snared Rabbit.pngRabbit Family.png

Sheep

Domestic Sheep Stages.jpgDomestic Lamb.jpg

Sheep cannot be found naturally occurring and are only domesticated from mouflon. They occur as a family, as an adult individual, or as a lamb. They can be sheared for fleece, which can be used to make yarn, clothing and medical supplies. They can also be killed, skinned and butchered using a knife and to get sheep skin (which can be worn or crafted into a saddle), mutton and bones. Shorn sheep will not produce lambs, but will regrow their fleece when fed (a bowl of gooseberries and carrot). Lambs fed (a bowl of gooseberries and carrot) will grow into adult sheep and create a sheep dung (used in compost and for domesticating geese). If not fed promptly, the lambs will die. However, sheep regularly produce new lambs, and dead lambs will disappear after five minutes. Like mouflon lambs, domestic lambs can be lead with a rope. They are friendly, and will tend to follow the player. If loose near a carrot farm, sheep will eat the carrots and ruin the crop.

Wolf

Wolf.jpg

Wolves are predators found roaming the badlands individually or in multiples. An attacking wolf will result in a Bite Wound, which if not treated (with sterile wool pad and needle and thread) will result in death. They can be shot using a bow and arrow and skinned for wolf skin to craft a wolf hat. Unlike other animals, wolves do not instantly die when shot by an arrow; instead, they will bleed to death, and are still able to attack in this state. They are a predator of humans; though they do not chase their prey, their erratic movement makes them difficult to hunt. Wolves can be domesticated into dogs by feeding mutton. The fed wolf will become pregnant and produce two dog puppies and one wolf puppy.

Dog

Collie.png

Dogs cannot be found naturally occurring and are only domesticated from wolves. They are friendly (except for Mean Pit Bulls), and will tend to follow the player. They possibly also engage bears, keeping the bear from following the player, with no harm to the dog. When fed raw mutton, a dog will become pregnant and produce three puppies which can be picked up. Puppies then fed with Bowl of Carnitas will grow into adult dogs. If not fed promptly, the puppy will die.

Dogs can be one of nine breeds (Pit Bull, Poodle, Chihuahua, Dachshund, Airedale, Beagle, Collie, German Shepherd and Schnauser). Unlike other animals, adult dogs have a limited lifespan, and will grow old and die. A dog can only breed once in its lifetime. They cannot be killed, except for Mean Pit Bulls, which can be killed with a bow and arrow. A Pit Bull has a chance of becoming a Mean Pit Bull, which can attack the player resulting in a Bite Wound, which if not treated (with sterile wool pad and needle and thread) will result in death. It is also possible to force a Pit Bull to turn Mean by hitting it with a Long Straight Shaft.

Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear.jpg

Grizzly bears are predators found in the badlands. They come from a den as an individual. An attacking bear will result in a Bite Wound, which if not treated (with sterile wool pad and needle and ball of thread) will result in death. They can be shot using a bow and arrow and skinned to get bear skin to make a bear skin rug. Unlike other animals, three arrows are required to kill a single bear. They can travel far from their den and will follow their prey. A hungry grizzly can be fed with raw mutton.

Seal

Antarctic Fur Seal.jpg

Seals spawn in the tundra biome. They are docile and can be killed with a long straight shaft. Skinning (using flint chip or knife) yields seal skin which can be worn directly, or sewn into a sealskin coat.

Horse

Wild Horse.jpg

Horses spawn in the desert biome, often roaming into other areas. They run away when approached and are very quick. A horse can be captured using a lasso (Dropping the lasso frees the horse, and returns the lasso). Once lassoed, a horse will follow the player and can be hitched to a fence. A hitched horse can be tamed by feeding a carrot or wild carrot. Placing a saddle on the tamed horse will then allow a player to ride the horse. The horse can then be hitched to a hand cart to create a ride-able horse-drawn cart. Both forms of ride-able horse will escape (and roam the area) if left unhitched for more than seven seconds. Being attacked by a rattle snake while riding a horse will result in a dead horse (from which antivenom can be extracted), or tipped cart (which can be righted using a rope) respectively. A carrot crown can be placed on a hitched wild horse as part of the recipe for Oddity.

Rattlesnake

Rattle Snake.jpg

Rattlesnakes spawn in the desert. An attacking snake will result in a snake bite, which if not treated (with sterile wool pad and antivenom knife) will result in death. Snakes can be killed using a knife, yielding snake skin which can be crafted into snake skin boots. Encountering a snake while on a riding horse will kill the horse, from which antivenom can be extracted using a knife and a clay bowl. A Snake encountered while riding a horse-drawn cart will result in a tipped horse-drawn cart which can be righted using a rope (which is consumed).

Boar

Wild Boar.jpgDomestic Pig.jpg

Boars are found in the Swamp as an adult individual or with a piglet. An attacking boar will result in a hog cut, which if not treated (with sterile wool pad and needle and thread) will result in death. They can be shot using a bow and arrow and then butchered using a knife to yield meat and bones.

If a wild boar with piglet is hunted, the piglet can be picked up and placed in containers. If fed (with bowl of corn), it will grow up into a domestic boar, if not fed, it will die. You cannot pick up a fed piglet. Soon after it grows, the domestic boar will generate a domesticated piglet, which when fed will turn into a pig. A domestic boar can still attack, and can be killed with a bow and arrow. However, a pig can only be killed with a knife. Currently pork is only used to craft pork tacos.

Bison

Bison.jpgDomestic Cow.jpg

Bison are found in the Prairie as an adult individual or with a calf. Bison are docile and can be killed using a bow and arrow. Two arrows are required to kill a single bison.

If a bison with calf is hunted, the calf can be lead with a rope and fed (with bowl of corn) to grow up into a domestic bison, if not fed, it will die. Soon after it grows, the domestic bison will generate a domesticated calf, which when fed will turn into a cow. Feeding the cow will generate a calf, after which the cow can then be milked using a bucket until dry (if not promptly milked, the milk cow will revert into a domestic cow and must be fed again). The dry cow can be returned to it's milking state by feeding it a bowl of water. Milk can be consumed directly or crafted into butter which can be used on bread. Cows are friendly, and will tend to follow the player. It is currently impossible to kill adult cows.

Mosquito Swarm

Mosquito Swarm.jpg

Mosquitoes are found in the jungle. If encountered, they will inflict the player with Yellow Fever which cannot be cured, but will disappear after 35 seconds. Yellow fever increases your temperature and reduces the hunger bar to 30% of its maximum. See the Medical Treatment page for strategies to survive yellow fever.

Turkey

Turkey.jpg

Turkeys are found in the yellow prairies. They can be killed using a bow and arrow. They currently cannot be domesticated. A shot turkey can be plucked for 18 Turkey Feathers, and skinned using a knife or Flint Chip to get Plucked Turkey. The turkey can then be cooked to get Turkey Slices, Turkey Drumstick and Turkey Broth.
